I was being serious :) I like knitting and grammar! Thanks for the input!

I believe I like knitted after thinking about it.

Knit or knitted?

When you are refering to items you have knit do you say: I knitted or I knit?

The other day I said knitted and I’m not so sure about it. I think it is acceptable in American English but not British English.

I do live in America so I guess if it flies just fine over here I shouldn’t worry about it.

So what do you think? I knit or I knitted? I just really don’t want to butcher the language any more than necessary.

I made owl items for my boyfriend’s niece recently.

The blanket was a bit of a challenge to photograph. The aforementioned boyfriend stood above it on our bed to get it all in one shot.

Making it was also a challenge, not in skill but patience. I started in May when the sex of the baby was announced and did not finish until a few days before Christmas.

The most challenging part was sewing on (by hand!) all of the cabled owls. I finally got smart and purchased an embroidery hoop from a craft store which helped keep everything in place as I sewed.

So tip to anyone who may read this, embroidery hoops are not just for embroidery! They can hold your knitting in place while you sew things to it!

I knitted a Christmas sweater for Seven so we could take an ugly christmas sweater photo with Mike but she looks cute!

Thank you also! I’ll add you on Ravelry!

For the longest time I was absolutely terrified of knitting cables. They looked and sounded complicated as hell when I tried to read patterns containing them. I think it was the need for a cable needle that made it so scary. If something requires a special needle it must be insanely difficult, right? Not at all! I watched a tutorial on YouTube and I felt ridiculous. So I got started on this scarf right away and cabling was so easy I made the cable owl too. (Side note: I was too impatient to wait to see what he looked like with eyes, so I sewed them on right after I knitted him.)
For some crazy reason I’m using size 4 needles, so this scarf is going to take a decade to make but I’m still thrilled I got over my fear. And also I’m using a double pointed needle instead if a cable needle. I’m a knitting rebel.
So in short, don’t be afraid of cables other knitters, it’s an unwarranted fear!

Made this lovely sweater for my dog Seven, she was thrilled as you can tell by her expression…
I knitted the main body of the sweater and the edges are crocheted.
This post is part of my continued effort to document most of the knitted/crocheted items I have made. As always if you’re reading this and I have made you something, please take a pic and send it my way. Thanks!

The Tumblr Knit-A-Longs in January are the Darkside Cowl and the Shroom Hat. I really wanted to participate in the KAL but the hat pattern confused me (due to a lack of skill on my part, naturally) and I look down right ridiculous in most hats, so that was out. The other option was the cowl and I adored the design but I really wasn’t interested in making a cowl. (After re-reading this post while writing it, I have determined that I am a hard to please knitter or a complainer if you prefer. At least I recognize my shortcomings, right?)
I did what any knitter who also doubles as a pain in the bum would do, and I changed the pattern for the cowl into a pattern for a scarf. Pictured above is my current progress with this endeavor.
So in short, I am participating in the knit-a-long, but not really because I took a detour from the road the rest of the knit-a-longers are on. And also I’m not entirely sure I will finish this before January 31st so that’s pretty much strike two. Maybe instead of saying I am knitting-a-long, I’ll tell people I am knitting-in-the-vicinity.

Please tell me I am not the only person who, upon seeing this photo, wants to not only acquire a goat but also spend all my free time making sweaters for it.
PS: The goat’s name is Peanut and I saw the picture on Reddit.

Tumblr, I neglect you and I’m sorry. I made these guys in November. The pig was a birthday gift and the elephant was a just because gift. I also made an alligator but I forgot to take a picture. I am ashamed. :(

I recently completed my first mitten! As soon as it has a friend, probably around 2013 (if my ability to finish it what I start is any indication of a proper time table), I will post pictures.

The other day I was on the book of faces and I noticed this status update on a friend’s profile:

I have pledged to “Craft it Forward” this New Year [pass it on…]! I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment to this update. HERE’S THE CATCH: You must in turn promise to post this and send something you have made to the first 5 posters on your status. The rules are that it must be hand-made by you and it must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2011!

I loved the idea so I jumped in and I can not wait to see what I get from my friend, who by the way is an AMAZING artist. http://www.janaecorrado.com

I’ve already started working on my craft it forward projects but I’ll likely stop midway and put it off until December. Procrastination is awesome…

Made a granny square scarf for Sabrina to match her new coat. Finished it tonight during craft night. Enjoy Sabrina!

(I folded it awkwardly to show all the colors, not to be fancy haha)

Still trying to crochet. This cat’s name is Dixie and she is setting back the cat movement by conforming to stereotypes and attacking my yarn!

I’m trying to crochet but this keeps getting in the way…
